CBSE Class 10 Book Selection;

Before reading this, go through the previous articles to understand it better. In this blog, we will discuss about the important books you must have while preparing for boards.

Personally, I had used the following books :
1. NCERTs (God of all books)
2. Chapterwise and Topic-wise previous year questions
3. Arihant books

I want to give you a brief review about each of these books :)

1. NCERTs ( The must book )

Many students just simply read the lines of this book and go for exam. I assure you that if you simply read social science books, you can't write a long answer with this approach nor can you recall the short 1-mark answer. I will tell you how to study NCERTs. I bet you can't find this awesome content one-of -its kind anywhere in the web.

Continue to read to master the art of reading NCERTs :

a. Before starting a chapter, go through the subtopics and write them in your copy. Try to mingle and have some conclusions based on your previous classes knowledge.

b. Always read the introduction, please don't skip. When you are unable to recall in exam, introduction fetches you marks.

c. Read the text and draw a diagram or a structure in that book, concluding that part of the text.

d. Read NCERTs as if you will not touch the book again and this is your last chance for reading. This is important as students continue to read them but can't recall as they have lack of concentration and focus everytime when they read.

e. Read NCERTs before going to class. This makes instant revision for 2 times. This solids your conceptual clarity.

f. If you cannot understand a word, a sentence, or a topic, just google it and go to image section and look on the images, I bet you will understand at least something on that topic.

If a students follows these tips faithfully, he/she can grasp every concept of NCERTs.

2. OSWAAL BOOKS

The best book for social science and english. I was a little unlucky as I came to know about this book at the end. For social science it has ample of previous year questions chapterwise and topic-wise ( which is the special thing ). Read the chapter from NCERT, go to class and listen to teachers - the explaination, come back home and go through the questions and its solutions and its over. An important book to tackle tricky social science questions.

3. ARIHANT BOOKS

The most popular and comprehensive book. Almost all students have this. All-in-one English is awesome. The key feature is chapter highlights which you should go through. It helps in writing long answers ( 8 marks ). Social science is not so nice - at least I don't recommend. For science and maths don't go for any refreshers. Previous year questions are more valuable and important :)

CONCLUSION :

1. Puchase books with proper guidance. Don't buy all the books. Buy only one refresher for each subject.

2. My preferences :

a) Maths - NCERT, Last 15 Previous year questions of all sets (That's enough to score 95% in maths)

b) Science - NCERT, Previous years and whatever teacher tells that this section is imp, from this section this type of questions come, note that very carefully.

c) Social Science - Read the chapter from NCERT, go to class and listen to teachers - the explaination, come back home and go through questions of oswaal books and its solutions, its over. An important book to tackle tricky social science questions.

d) English - All-in-one English ( Go through theory, chapter highlights, and questions - more than enough )

e) Hindi - Listen to your teachers, whatever she tells honestly do that - its more than enough
